Visual perception, color knowledge and vocabulary are important skills for a young child to develop. This fun printable activity provides the opportunity for the child to do just that- hands-on learning throughout Summer!

Supplies Needed:

How to set up this activity:

Provide paint dabbers, drops of paint with earbuds (q-tips) or crayons/markers matching the colors on the printable. (When laminating the printable, play dough can also be used- let the child roll balls of play dough to match the color of the beach ball.) Let the child match the colors by dabbing the rest of the row. This can be done independently or an adult can assist with the purpose of enforcing language- talking about the colors of the balls etc.

PS- Matching the colors by dabbing also develops hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. AND dabbers are a great alternative to paint/stamps, and less messy too!

I have included a sheet with color, and one with no color, only the color names. This sheet will be perfect for kids learning to read and recognize the color names since they will need to read the name of the color to know which color to use for that row. Win-win!

Then, you will find a sheet with a color mixing experiment. I will suggest using drops of paint with this sheet, since dabbers will be ruined and play dough even more so. Mix the colors and see what new color will appear! A great activity to teach primary and secondary colors to little ones!
