Autumn Color Sorting Activity

Fall is on its way. This week, I saw my first red leaf. It got me so excited about the upcoming change of seasons. That little leaf inspired this fun autumn color sorting mat.

FREE Fall themed color sorting activity perfect for toddlers and preschoolers! Great seasonal activity that will get your preschooler learning colors and building vocabulary and language skills!

This activity is perfect for all of your upcoming autumn homeschool preschool activities. This low-prep activity pack is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Just print, laminate, cut, and go! The autumn color sorting activity features eight fall items in eight different colors.  I suggest printing all of the pages on cardstock or laminating for durability. This will help your activity last longer. You could also add velcro dots to the mats and sorting cards to make the activity more portable.

Autumn Color Sorting

This autumn-themed color sorting activity is perfect for reviewing colors. Not only will preschoolers work on colors, but they'll sort various autumn items according to those colors.

Directions:

Print out the color sorting cards. You can keep them together - four to a page - or cut them apart. Go over each color to make sure your preschoolers can identify all eight of them. Then, cut the sorting cards. You'll have 64 small sorting cards featuring eight fall objects in the eight featured colors. Help your child identify all eight items - bat, pine cone, spider, web, scarecrow, leaf, squirrel, and apple tree. Mix them up, and have your preschoolers put each sorting card on the appropriate color card.

To make this a more portable activity, you could put velcro dots on the mats and cards. Then, punch a hole in the top left corner of the color cards. Bind them with a binder ring. Store all of the pieces in a zipper pouch. Then, kids can stick the images to the color cards without fear of losing the pieces.
