Learning about different types of animals and their names is a fun activity that young children enjoy. I created this free printable in which children classify and sort 20 animals into 4 groups: fish, mammals, insects and birds. This activity builds vocabulary, critical thinking and observation skills!
My kids love this activity and enjoy doing it over and over again. I made sure to laminate the sorting mat as well as the 16 animal pieces, and I used velcro to attach the pieces.
