Build the Number Fun

If you're looking for an engaging math activity to present to your preschoolers or kindergartners, look no further! This activity will reinforce one-to-one correspondence, counting to twenty, number recognition, number formation, and even fine motor skills. Since this activity can be prepped in just a few minutes, it's perfect for busy moms/teachers like you!

All you'll need to do to prepare this activity is print, laminate, and cut out the pages. Gather some fun counters, math cubes, or even a can of playdough. And, you're all set!

While you don't have to laminate the pages in this pack, it will make them sturdier and help them stand up to busy little hands. If you prefer not to laminate your mats, you could just slip the ten-frame and recording pages into a write and wipe pocket. Kids can write on the recording page with dry erase markers so the page can be used repeatedly.

To use this activity, have preschoolers choose a number card and identify the number on it. Then, they'll use counters or gems to build the number in the counting frames.

If you'd like, kids can make playdough balls to fill the frames. Then, have them recount the balls and "smash" them as they go. This is a great way to work on building fine motor skills as they roll the balls and then mash them down.

After your child or student has filled in the counting frames, have them find and trace the same number on the recording page.
