Christmas Letter Matching Cards
This no-prep activity is perfect for your Christmas homeschool preschool activities. All you need to do is print out the alphabet cards. Laminate them for durability. Then, cut them apart.How to Use the Cards
Uppercase Letter Match:Print out two sets of these alphabet cards. After printing and cutting out the cards, set the lowercase letters aside for a later time. Mix up the Santa cards (they're the only ones with uppercase letters). Spread them out on a table, and let your little ones begin matching the uppercase letters. Or, you could play this as a memory game. Turn all the cards facedown and have your preschooler flip over two at a time. When they find the match, they remove the cards from the table.
Lowercase Letter Match:
Use the cards the same as I described above. This time, however, use only the Christmas tree cards as they have lowercase letters on them.
Uppercase to Lowercase Letter Match:
Use the cards the same as I described above. However, this time, use all of the cards. Have your preschoolers match an uppercase (Santa) card to its corresponding lowercase (tree) card.
One more tip:
You could make this a self-correcting activity. To do so, you'll need some small stickers. Put matching stickers on the back of each matching set of cards. Then, after your child has made a match, they can turn the cards over to check themselves. I don't recommend this for the memory game, however. The goal of this activity is to learn to identify the letters of the alphabet. If you add a self-checking sticker to the cards (on the front), your child may begin looking for the matching sticker instead of the matching letter.This post was contributed by:
