Gorilla Shapes Sort & Trace

Working on shapes with your preschoolers? Have them do these fun and interactive shape trace, sort, cut and paste activities. They are gorilla themed and will appeal to younger kids as they learn about zoo animals and their characteristics. They will trace the banana shapes at the bottom, then they will cut and paste to sort them into their correct columns. The best part about these printables? They are virtually no prep!

FREE printable Gorilla themed Shape learning activity for preschool, prek and kindergarten kids! Can be used as cut/paste, trace and sort,or can be laminated. Perfect for zoo or animal theme!

Print as many worksheets as you need for your set of students. Have colored crayons, pencils and scissors ready for each child on their tables as they prepare to work on these sheets.

Trace and Sort Shapes – Zoo Theme

Work on one sheet at a time – there are 3 worksheets which include the shapes triangle, oval, star, diamond, square, circle, heart, rectangle, and hexagon. There are 3 shapes on each worksheet. Instruct the students to use a colored marker or crayon to trace over each shape. They can color it in if they wish. They will then cut all the boxes and sort the shapes into the correct columns to ‘feed the gorilla’. Before they glue their pieces, check their columns to make sure they are correct. You can go ahead and hand out the remaining sheets once you’ve seen that they were able to complete the interactive sheets on their own.

These activities can be differentiated so you can use the shapes that your kids identify with and know. Use the activities you think will work with each student.

Another way you could use these is to laminate them. Place Velcro dots into the columns and have the kids trace with dry erase markers and sort the shapes!
