A child with well developed visual discrimination skills is more likely to be successful in spelling, mathematics and reading.

For the mats themselves, use a clean sans-serif like Andika or Open Dyslexic for any text, since early readers struggle with decorative fonts, and keep letter and number shapes in a single consistent typeface so kids are comparing shapes, not font styles.
